At the USC Men's Basketball game versus Oregon, there was a pleasant surprise before the game. Four-time NBA All Star DeMar DeRozan came to cheer on his alma mater.
DeRozan T-shirts were given to all the students on the north side of the Galen Center. Right after Trojan Candy saw DeMar talking to some students, I walked to where his courtside seats were at the north end. After DeMar sat down, I tapped him on the shoulder, and he turned around. I asked Demar if he remembered me volunteering at Heritage Hall, and he said, "Yes." DeMar is in my blog. Check out his picture at the Men's Basketball 2009 banquet (3/31/2009). Next, I took this picture of DeMar.
The Galen Center big screen showed some of DeMar's honors he attained at USC.
FIGHT ON, DeMar!
My husband Jim and I arrived at the pre-game Chalk Talk lunch in the Galen Center Founder's Room, and the patrons were just starting to get their food. Perfect timing!
Then, Trojan Candy saw her smiling face as she walked into our brunch. Jessika Carrington came in to visit her USC friends. Jessika, who was an Administrative Assistant under former USC Coach Cynthia Cooper last season, told us that she is now the Director of Operations at Arizona. Congratulations!
Trojan Candy saw two more Women of Troy friends. They are also Women of Troy alumnae who graduated in 2007. Jamie Hagiya (11/29/2012) is a personal trainer and coach, and Shay Murphy (11/29/2012) is still playing professionally in Turkey. FIGHT ON, Jamie! FIGHT ON, Shay!
We beat Arizona 78-52!
After the game, there was an autograph session. Trojan Candy took pictures of our team as they walked out and sat at the tables. Here are the 2017-2018 Women of Troy Basketball players:
